The MANSION International Polo Tournament enters its final stretch. This Monday the competition began to achieve the most important title of those that are played in this sporting event: the Gold Cup, in this case of handicap 4-6, sponsored by Isolas 1892. The first day ended with the victory of Águilas and Fray Guen Dusseldorf in their respective matches. On the other hand, the Santa Maria Polo Club of Sotogrande has hosted last weekend the Championship of Andalusia-Spain U18 Polo, with the presence of more than a dozen teams.
Eagles won 10-4 to Santa Quiteria in the match held at Court IV of Los Pinos. The set integrated by Ricardo Blanco, Mauro Bianconi, Exequiel Zubiaurre and Jorge Pepa was always ahead on the scoreboard. Santa Quiteria played with the brothers Gerardo, Gonzalo and Jose Entrecanales, and Jaime Serra.
On the other hand, Fray Guen Dusseldorf won 12-10 against Biarritz Arte del Vino in the match that took place in court I of Los Pinos. The team made up of Dirk Baumgartner, César Miño, Segundo F. Llorente and Kaveh Atrak started at the front in the first chukker or playing time, tied in the second and came from behind in the third, and recovered the advantage from the fourth. The Biarritz line-up was Amy Huson, Laurent Desmas, Patricio Neves and Santiago Torreguitar.
The Gold Cup at this level, handicap 4-6 goals, will return next Wednesday. Tomorrow Tuesday begins the Playtech Gold Cup handicap 12-14, with two games on the agenda: Sainte Mesme Vs Kasak at 17.00 on court II, and Los Schatzies Vs Mansion-LaLigaSports at 18.30 at Los Pinos III.
Shift for minors
On the other hand, this past Sunday, the 12th edition of the Andalusian and Spanish U18 Polo Championship was held at the Santa María Polo Club courts. It was the turn for the youngest ones, who showed that the quarry of future polo players is in an excellent shape. It was a festive day in which more than 60 children played, in a competition that is organized by the Andalusian Polo Federation, the Santa María Polo Club and the Royal Spanish Polo Federation. Thanks to the collaboration of parents, organizers and sponsors, a record participation was achieved, especially of Spanish players. Sardañola’s team won in the top category, while Verdugal and San Pedro won in the medium and low handicap categories, respectively.
Fashion show
In parallel to the best sport, the Santa María Polo Club hosts different leisure activities for all ages. This Tuesday there will be an Ibiza fashion show starting at 8pm in the drinks and catering area, with the collaboration of two prestigious brands: Plissé and Panamanía. There will be live music. This fashion show will be repeated on August 25th.
Visitors to the 49th MANSION International Polo Tournament will also be able to find shops, gastrobars and children’s attractions. Tickets are sold at the club’s box office or on the website www.tip.santamariapoloclub.com. They are free for those under 15 and over 65. There are also season tickets and discounts. Parking is free of charge.
