The last week of the 49th International MANSION Polo Tournament at the Santa Maria Polo Club in Sotogrande began with a double day of the Isolas 1892 Gold Cup handicap 4-6 goals, in which Santa Quiteria and Isolas managed to win their respective commitments. The latter team got by points a place in the final next Saturday, which will see the faces with Eagles. On Wednesday it will be known who will play the subsidiary final.
In the early afternoon, the match between Fray Guen Dusseldorf and Santa Quiteria was held, which ended with a 6-8 result. The winning team, made up of the brothers Gerardo, Gonzalo and Jose Entrecanales and Juan Torroba, went behind in the first three chukkers or playing times, but from the fourth period they managed to turn the score around and end up winning against Fray Guen Dusseldorf, a team made up of Dirk Baumgartner, Cesar Miño, Segundo F. Llorente and Pedro Beca, who replaced Kaveh Atrak.
The second match of the day was against Biarritz Arte del Vino and Isolas, with the final result of 8-9. The winners, who played with Alicia and Daniel Gariador, Estanislao Grahn and Lawrence Isola, began by losing, tied in the third chukker, were outplayed in the fourth and tied again in the fifth and final, deciding the tie with extra time, and giving the pass to the final to Isolas. Biarritz went out to the court with Amy Huson, Laurent Desmas, Patricio Neves and Santiago Torreguitar.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, we have another day of the Playtech Gold Cup handicap 12-14 goals. At 17.00 on court III of Los Pinos Mansion-LaLigaSports and BN Polo Team will play. And at 18.30 on court IV we will be able to see Kazak and Los Schatzies.
On the other hand, this past Sunday, the II Santa Maria Polo Club Golf Tournament took place at the La Reserva Golf Club in Sotogrande, with 63 players, including polo players and skippers who are participating in the International MANSION Polo Tournament. There were two categories: from 0 to 14 handicap and from 15 to 26.4. Richard Hennessy won in category 1 and Manuel Gutiérrez Payan won in category 2. The hole in 1 made by Mark Henderson stood out. This trophy had the collaboration of La Reserva, Valecuatro, Scotta, Heineken and Panamania.
Second edition of the ‘Colección Ibicenca’ catwalk
In the calendar of events taking place in parallel with the competition, tomorrow, Tuesday, the gardens of the Santa María Polo Club will host the second ‘Ibizan Collection’ fashion show. It will take place in the Shopping Village shopping area from 7.30 pm. The catwalk will feature models from the Plissé and Panamanía brands, as well as live music.
Next to the shops, visitors to the 49th MANSION International Polo Tournament will be able to find gastrobars and children’s attractions. Tickets are sold at the Club’s box office or on the website www.tip.santamariapoloclub.com. They are free for those under 15 and over 65. There are also season tickets and discounts. Parking is free of charge.
