Aguilas team remains unbeaten in the classification of the Isolas 1892 Silver Cup handicap 4-6, after beating Fray Guen Indi in the match played this Friday at the Santa Maria Polo Club. The 49th MANSION International Polo Tournament advances, with the second of the trophies at stake after the Hyundai Bronze Cup. The Tournament faces the weekend with two matches scheduled for this Saturday, as well as live musical performances in the Club’s gardens.
This Friday’s match was a high level, hard-fought game in which both teams fought to the end. Although Aguilas, with Ricardo Blanco, Mario Bianconi, Ezequiel Zubiaurre and Jorge Pepa started off by scoring in the first half, Fray Guen Indi’s team managed to cut the lead. But in the last chukkers the team of Aguilas took distance again to end up beating Fray Guen Indi, with Pablo Mora-Figueroa, Cesar Miño, Segundo F. Llorente and Kaveh Atrak, by 13 to 9.
Polo Saturday, leisure and live music
Tomorrow, Saturday, the competition returns with two matches scheduled. From 19:00 the teams of Mansion-LaLigaSports and Sainte Mesme will face each other in a new match of the Isolas 1892 Silver Cup with handicap 12-14 in court IV of Los Pinos. And then the teams of Isolas, winner of the Bronze Cup, and Santa Quiteria will face each other from 19:30 in court II, to score in the Isolas 1892 Silver Cup handicap 4-6.
And at the end of the games the party begins in the gardens with the live performance of the group from Jerez Solera60, with versions of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. All this in the wide open spaces of the Club. Along with the playing fields, a whole range of leisure activities have been programmed, parallel to the Shopping Village shopping area, the Gastro Garden for an informal dinner at sunset, the Kids Area for the little ones and the terraces for a drink during the match.
For this very special summer, the Santa Maria Polo Club has reinforced the safety and hygiene measures in its large gardens and outdoor spaces, to guarantee a safe environment. In accordance with the regulations, the use of a mask is compulsory throughout the venue.
